Lament For Alasdair Dearg MacDonell

Alasdair Dearg was the first of the Glengarry MacDonalds to spell his name MacDonell. He married a daughter of Allan Cameron, 16th of Lochiel.

Alasdair's father was Donald of Laggan and a sister was Isabella, wife of Sir Ruaridh Mor MacLeod of Harris and Dunvegan. He predeceased his father and sister who both lived to over 100 years of age.

This is a beautiful but short piobaireachd. The composer may have been a MacCrimmon but that is uncertain.
