Blowing

by Daniel
(East Lothian )

Hi Bill,

I have just started playing the pipes and I have braces on my teeth, therefore my lips are weak.

I find it really hard to get all the air that I need to blow into the pipes.

How do I improve this?

Please see much that should help in the list of similar requests under"Lip and Mouth fatigue.
Perhaps the main things are to make sure your instrument is working properly with airtight bag and well set suitably strength reeds. The other point is in taking very brief steps at a time of a minute or so and working up gradually until the lip muscles strengthen.
If still needing more advice, simply ask again.
All the best for the festive Season,

Bill Robertson
