Can't get the proper sounding bagpipes

by Allison
(Georgia )

Hi Bill,

I recently purchased some bagpipes. I've set it up, but I can't seem to get the proper sound out.

I'm not sure if it is me or the bagpipes. Do you have any tips?

Cheers,
Allison

Can't get the proper sounding bagpipes
by: Bill Robertson

Hello Allison,

I think that you should go to my website, left of the main page, in Bagpipe articles, tuning etc., then to How to commence playing etc. that has stages of how to prepare your pipes as a beginner. It includes text, and video.

I am not sure if I mentioned that the bag should be tested for air-tightness with suitable stoppers/corks,in all stocks except the blow-piece stock to allow inflation of the bag.The bag should feel very tight under a good air pressure, providing your blow-piece valve is working.

If still having problems with the setup and stages simply let me know.

I trust that helps, and all the best,

Bill R
