Donald Gruamach's March

The piobaireachd tune Donald Gruamach's March is thought to have been composed by Donald Gruamach's brother but that is not confirmed.

Donald Gruamach (gloomy or sullen) was a fierce warrior and an ardent competitor of Clan MacLeod and other Clans in the competition for control of lands. He was 4th of Sleat, Skye.

Donald Gruamach died in 1539 at the siege of Eilean Donan Castle by a gunshot fired from the battlements. At the time he was besieging Eilean Donan in pursuit of his claim to the Lordship of the Isles, a title that had been seized by King James IV in 1493.
