Melbanke's SaluteMelbanke's Salute is sometimes called Salute to MacKenzie of Millbank. This tune was composed by John MacKay, Raasay, in the early 1800's to honour Kenneth MacKenzie, a son of Sir Alexander MacKenzie of Gairloch. Mackenzie held the estate of Millbank near Dingwall. MacKenzie was a generous patron of John MacKay. He sent his son plus Donald Cameron, Sandy Cameron and John Ban MacKenzie to MacKay for training. He is reported to have paid MacKay handsomely for his services. A man worthy of a Salute. Exit Melbanke's Salute and return to the Salute Piobaireachd Stories.html Share and Enjoy:
