A Bagpipe Lesson for Men of ArgyllMen of Argyll is a fine 2/4 steady tempo march for musical enjoyment rather than for playing for a parade to march to. The tune is one of the finest 2/4 marches on B. The composer John McLellan (1875-1949) Pipe Major of the 8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders composed many fine pipe tunes. Please see www.pipetunes.ca for a detailed biography.
Lesson PointersPointers as usual for 2/4 marches: controlled upbeats, pointing in this case very slightly relaxed more than usually with clear good execution and certain feeling. Treat more as a competition type march in tempo of about 72 BPM. Please note that the audio tutorial has more detailed instruction than the video tutorial.
