Pipe Major The Royal Scots

by Brian Burns
(Edinburgh)

Question

Hi Bill, just a short note to ask if you know my uncle Robert Burns who was a Pipe Major in the Royal Scots , my father Billy and his brother Alec were also in the 1st Batt in Aden.....kind regards Brian Burns

Bill's Reply

Thank you, Brian. Yes, I served with Bobby Burns who succeeded me as Pipe Major of the 1st. Bn. The Royal Scots about 1959 0r 1960. We kept in touch occasionally.

Recently I had heard that Bobby was working/living back in Edinburgh. I tried unsuccessfully, to get in touch through friends who knew him. It would appreciate getting in touch with Bobby if you could give me contact details for him. Please use mu website contact form to do this. This link will take you there http://www.bagpipe-tutorials.com/contact.html

I trust he is fit and well like myself. I know there was another relative with the same name Pipe Major of The Royal Scots some good years later.

Best wishes,
Robbie – as Bobbie knows me
