Loosening Seized Joints

Bill demonstrates a very quick and easy way to loosen seized joints. Remember to be very careful when trying to loosen your seized chanter because if done incorrectly, you stand the chance of damaging or causing a crack in your chanter.

 

Of course prevention is better than cure so it stands to reason that using proper hemping/binding techniques and regularly maintaining your bagpipes, goes a long way to prevent bagpipe joint seizure.

PS:
The trick is to get the your wrists to snap turn in opposite directions, while extending your arms outwards. See the video below for the technique.
