Bagpipe Tune Of The Month Sky Boat Song
October 04, 2008

Firstly, thank you to all of you who completed my recent survey. I am now in a better position to provide bagpipe lessons for tunes that meet your need.

This months bagpipe lesson is for Skye Boat Song

One of my subscribers from Denmark, Henrik Hornhaver has his own website called Distant Piper. It has some links to various Danish Pipe Bands and an interesting story about playing along with the The Royal Household Regiment

Happy Piping and take care.

Kind Regards
Bill Robertson

PS - A New Website called School Of Piping:
Pipe Major Brett Tidswell has recently started a website called School Of Piping. In a short while Brett has put together some great and interesting articles and resources. He will be publishing shortly a hand book a very comprehensive guide to setting up and maintaining a bagpipe.

PPS - Pipeline BBC, Radio Scotland:
Radio Scotland have a weekly broadcast called Pipeline. There website has the following statement, "The definitive pipe music program, featuring news and recordings from the piping world". CLICK HERE to go to the Pipeline web site

The program changes each week at the weekend and lasts just under the hour. Normally it contains quite a lot of mainly good solo piping (sometimes other that Highland), some bands, news, and featured extracts from top contests both solo and band shortly after the events. Some pipers have rather too high a pitch and as a result a thin sound, and odd lapses in rhythm etc., which we all have some more than others. Still, we can all learn from perceptive listening.
